John Kander and Greg Pierce's new musical The Landing, starring Tony winner David Hyde Pierce and Julia Murney, officially opens October 23 at the Vineyard Theatre. Directed by Walter Bobbie, the musical is scheduled to run through November 24 at the off-Broadway theater.
In addition to Pierce and Murney, the cast of The Landing also features Paul Anthony Stewart and Frankie Seratch. The musical marks the first collaboration between composer Kander and librettist Pierce and is centered on characters who explore what it means to get what they think they want. The show consists of three thematically-connected tales—"Andra," "The Brick" and "The Landing"—about desire, love and loss.
The Landing features scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Michael Krass, choreography by Josh Rhodes, music direction by David Loud and orchestrations by Larry Hochman.
